There was a time I couldn't grasp my mother-in-law's "infatuation" with grocery shopping. She would slowly go down every aisle and buy very carefully. My mother-in-law was an excellent cook who cooked for many at a time. She loved cooking. I cooked but cooking didn't have that appeal to me that it had to her. Guess that's why I sat at her table more than she sat at mine, huh?
As I have aged, I find myself going to the grocery store more often. I grocery shop more than I shop anywhere for anything else. I don't know about you but when I go I always come out with more than I intentionally went inside to buy. Maybe you understand how it is--the BOGO's at the "green" store, the buy 5 get $1 off at the "blue" store, specials at others. I figure anything one uses is good to buy at a special deal.
I was reminded of this and then I was reminded of how the same concept works with faith. I read this yesterday and it stuck:
"When faith goes to the market, it ALWAYS takes a basket."
Isn't that the truth! Often my faith gets a bit on the weak side, but when I keep it strong, my basket keeps filling up with goods that will keep me alive spiritually. Goods like long-suffering, patience, peace, love, mercy, and joy are a few that come to mind. This was proven by me in an experience that has been going on for the past five years. I won't get specific but there were roadblocks along the way. When I was discouraged, I would reaffirm my faith that the Lord knew the best and I was going to trust HIM in this. Trusting during a roadblock is not easy for me. Yes, my faith got weak but I kept it alive. Well, the finality of this faith event came to fruition a couple of weeks ago and God's timing was perfect!
I hope you can remember to always have your faith and it's "basket" in heart in your marketplace of life!
