34 YEARS

This blog's second year seems to be following the same pattern as this blog's first year.  Wow, how time flies!  Seems like just a short time ago I was posting my second post to this new blog and now here it is a year and it's the second post of the "new" year.

Yes, The Husband and I are blessed today to celebrate another year of marriage.  I really can't add anything more than I say on a regular basis about our marriage.  It is a blessing from the Lord and one that I pray we never take for granted.

Last year (see blog post titled 33 years) we actually took a trip to St. Simons for a couple of days. The two of us took separate vacations this year and each of us had a fabulous time.  The Husband enjoyed a seven day trip to Louisiana to do his favorite sport of fishing and had a wonderful time.  Even if he had caught no fishes but had fun it would have been good enough but alas, he has stocked up our freezer and that makes me really happy.  We love to eat fish.  As for me and my seven days, I chose a staycation and stayed home and did many various things I chose.  For example, I had a 24 hour solo pajama party, spent time with my camera, took a couple of day road trips, slept as long as I wanted (6:30 a.m. is late for me), and cleaned out a lot of things I had stored  for a while.  I had a fine time as well.  With all that said and our dual fine times we had, I do think we were very happy to see each other again.

A celebration will involve red meat at a restaurant later on today and we will both enjoy that.  In the meantime, since my mother's birthday photos have gotten rave reviews, I thought I would let you all reminisce with me from that day 34 years ago when the Husband and I  said "I do".   I did notice the photos have acquired somewhat of a yellowish tone...even so, enjoy....

The Husband was skinny and had sandy colored hair...and look at that 1970's style tuxedo...

I, too, looked fine enough with my 1970's large--very large--eyeglasses and my dress with tons of lace.  If I had to wear that lace around my neck and those long sleeves on my arms today, I would be sweating for sure.  While my style in clothing has changed a bit, my taste in flowers has not.  I still love yellow roses and white daisies.  Especially white daisies.

One of my favorites was this one as my daddy and I were waiting to enter the church for the ceremony.  My daddy looked pretty happy and so did I.  Hmmmm?  I thought the sky was pretty that time of day....8 p.m.  On a Friday.

The bride and the groom......together.......notice the groom's white shoes.  I don't think he's ever worn white shoes again.  I thought it nice that I seemed to have a waist in this picture.  Nice.   I have almost forgotten what a waist on me looks like.

Look at those fancy cars in the parking lot....was this only 1979?  Wow.

And then those we love....some look happy, some not so much.....and notice the dark green tuxedos...and the mint green handmade bridesmaids' double knit dresses.   Stylin' and profilin'....and we sure must have loved greenery with the massive amount I see...and.... I love that those stained glass windows in the photo are the same ones we see and love every Sunday now in the new place.

And lastly, not to forget the beautiful wedding cake made by our friend, Vevelyn.  She has talent for sure.  It was beautiful.

We give thanks that the love has just grown with the years.  Through good times and bad times, sickness and health, joy and sorrow, and whatever life dishes. love remains constant.  So on this day, I again give thanks for the blessing of marriage.   As the scripture from 1 Corinthians 13 that was read in that ceremony those 34 years ago says:

"Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth,
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things,
Charity never fails...."

We are blessed today with such blessings.......and for that we are thankful.
