As we slept on our final night on the ship, the Radiance of the Seas motored right into the dock at Seward, Alaska on July 4. Our luggage had been picked up the night before and we excitedly excited the ship. After retrieving our luggage (and participating in a multiple people search for the booster carseat we carried), we stepped into the Alaska sunshine. Our multi person van arrived, we loaded up, and headed out. Seward was having their Fourth of July marathon up the mountain so the streets were filled with much festivite events, which we participated in happily. There were food trucks, craft booths, face painting, and much more.
From there, we did a quick stop at Exit Glacier outside of Seward, then went to the Seavey Sled Dog tour. That was enjoyed by all. Those dogs are phenomenal and the two youngest females in our party had a great time. There was a ride in a vehicle pulled by the dogs as well as a time to pet the dogs and hear a commentary about the Idirod, which multiple Seavey men have won.
After that, we headed north to Anchorage. Much beauty was found along the way, along with naps for some of us. There was a stop for lunch at a roadhouse. We found our house rental for the night, unloaded, and headed downtown.
Anchorage in the city was kind of a disappointment. In downtown parks, the homeless were many which was sad to see. We walked a bit, three of us (not the oldest females) shared a reindeer dog from a food truck, we shopped some, and then had a nice meal at Glacier Brewing House. Then back to the house to do much needed laundry for the rest of the trip.
